This is the Grand Jaguar Temple in Tikal, Guatemala. I had the opportunity to go there last January. Tikal is one of the many Mayan City-States peppering Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. Although it is not the largest Mayan city discovered so far, it is the one that has been more extensively excavated. There is still a lot of work to do; you can “see” many structures completely covered by the jungle. It is an amazing place.
